Background. Frequency of occurrence of acquired flatfoot increases with the development of civilization. The reason appears to be reduced mobility, which is common in children which are living in cities because they are walking on flat and hard surfaces. This condition might be prevented and treated conservatively. Objectives. The aim of our study was to determinate the presence of flatfoot deformity in children in primary school, high school and college students in Prilep. Material and methods. This research used data from systematic reviews made by the medical center of Prilep among students from primary and secondary education and students from the Faculty of Economics. The data are grouped regarding to calendar year examination, gender, educational group and place of residence. Results. In the primary education, coverage of flatfoot is higher in males and urban population. In secondary education, coverage is higher in females, and among students population is equalized by gender. Conclusion. The prevalence of flatfoot in the experimental population ranges from 44 %-61%, whereas in primary education is highest, indicating that physical activity and genetic factors are common causes for flatfoot deformity.
