REHABILITATION FOLLOWING AMPUTATION

Аутори:

Апстракт:
Rehabilitation of persons following limb amputation has to start immediately after the injury or even before amputation if amputation is an elected operation. Rehabilitation can be divided into several phases: 1.Preoperative 2.Acute postoperative 3.Pre-prosthetic 4.Prosthetic training 5.Long-term follow-up In all phases rehabilitation has to be orientated at all levels of person’s functioning and also on environmental and personal factors. It includes pain management, management of comorbidities, behavioural health, psychological and cognitive functions, residual limb management, patient education, prosthetic fitting and training, functional activities and ADLs, vocation, recreation, home evaluation, driver’s training and equipment. Rehabilitation has to be led by a specialist of physical and rehabilitation medicine and performed in a multidisciplinary team whose professionals have experience in rehabilitation of persons following amputation. Patient is an equal team member. Team has to write down realistic and achievable rehabilitation goals that have to be followed by appropriate outcome measures. References: Burger H.
